The first-mile test for developer tools

Your docs work.
Do your users?

Blindspot attempts your first developer workflow from a clean slate and shows where the path breaks—with the steps, evidence, and fix your team can act on.

A focused pilot for SDKs, APIs, and developer platforms.
01 / START FROM ZERO
! / FOUND THE GAP
The workflow

Test the moment your product has to make sense.

Start with one valuable task. Give your team a concrete answer before widening the scope.

01 / DEFINE

Choose a first win.

For example: install the SDK, authenticate, and make a successful API call.

02 / ATTEMPT

Follow the public path.

Run the task from a clean environment, using the docs and examples a new developer sees.

03 / EXPLAIN

Show the exact gap.

Get a reproducible timeline, the confusing step, and a proposed documentation or product fix.

An illustrative report

Not another dashboard.
One clear next fix.

Here is the report format we are building toward. The example below is fictional and does not describe a real customer.

FINDING 01 / AUTHENTICATIONREPRODUCIBLE ↗

The quickstart skips the project-scoped key.

The example tells a new developer to copy an API key, but the settings page offers two kinds. The default key returns a 403 on the first example request.

!
Suggested fix

Name the required key type beside the command and link directly to the correct settings screen.

$ npm install @example/sdk
$ node first-event.js
403 permission_denied: this key cannot create events
ILLUSTRATIVE OUTPUT — NOT A LIVE PRODUCT TEST
The pilot tests a real product and delivers a report with evidence. No fabricated pass rates or simulated customer claims.
Founding pilots

Find your first blind spot.

We are looking for developer-tool teams willing to share a test account and one onboarding goal. The first pilot is a hands-on test and report; automation is the next product milestone.

  • One first-run developer task
  • A timeline of the attempted journey
  • Reproducible friction and a suggested fix
